On Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th of April, First People Recruitment Solutions attended Supply Nation Connect 2019, held at the Sydney International Convention Centre.
Supply Nation Connect was established back in 2009 and with this year being the 10th anniversary, the theme of “the power of an idea” provided a powerful platform for high quality discussions and collaborations across the 2019 event. This included a number of insightful speakers across both days, such as former President of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Harriet Michel.
Key topics that were covered (currently affecting many Indigneous businesses in the sector) include the impact of state-based policies driving growth in Indigenous businesses, the ways in which organisations are now recognising the value of supplier diversity and how to take that supplier diversity and turn it global.
As one of 180 stalls on the second day, we were once again proud to represent ourselves as a Supply Nation certified, 100% Aboriginal-owned and managed recruitment agency.
With the development of meaningful connections and relationships at the heart of what First People Recruitment Solutions represents, it was great to see a number of familar faces from the Indigenous business community as well as the opportunity build relationships with a number of new faces on both the tradeshow floor and across the entire two days. The team of Hayley and Laura also had a number of high quality networking opportunities with contacts across Government.
With Supply Nation being Australia’s largest national directory of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, Supply Nation Connect 2019 once again proved to be an outstanding platform to deepen our understanding and relationships with the wider sector as well as showcasing First People Recruitment Solutions’ connection with our clients, candidates and the wider Indigenous community.
Also being plenty of fun, the team are already looking forward to next year’s event!
